Terri is a coach and the owner of CrossFit Impervious and CrossFit Warrior Legion. Originally starting as a member, she fell in love with the hard work and community and saw how it could change someone's life. As a long-time volunteer firefighter and a mom of 2 daughters she understands that fitness is important, and wanted to empower more people to take control of their lives. She is passionate about people that being a Warrior is a mentality, an attitude, no matter your gender or background. She is a Level 1 Coach and is also certified through MetaFit and Adaptive Athlete Alliance. 

Bryan Butterfass

Associate Head Coach
Bryan “Butters” Butterfass is our Associate Head Coach here at CrossFit Impervious. Bryan’s execution of teaching strength, mobility and proper scaling is second to none.  Constantly learning and refining his skill set, Bryan will maximize anyone’s performance and help them reach their goals.  Aside from running our regular scheduled classes Bryan heads up CrossFit Impervious Barbell Club. You can also find Bryan competing in USAW competitions throughout the year.

Steve Tria

Weightlifting Coach

Steve Tria - Having graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Southampton College of Long Island University with Honors, Steve is no stranger to the scientific method and research practices.  Using these skills he has advanced himself in the last 10 years of training athletes and the general population alike to get incredible results.  From draft picks and professional athletes, to helping kids make the varsity team Steve has done it all.  He has helped athletes play at over 120 different Universities and Colleges with many full scholarship athletes.  He has multiple certifications and experience learning from some of the best and brightest in the industry giving him the ability to work with athletes from all backgrounds and has helped many athletes return to the field of play after major injuries and was one of the first Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialists (FRCms) in the country.  His science based approach allows an athlete to maximize their performance by targeting their individual weaknesses and making them strengths.  A former competitive athlete having played multiple sports including Football, Lacrosse, Wrestling, and Powerlifting, he still finds himself competing now in the sport of Weightlifting.  He is also the head coach of the USAW registered Impervious WL, and has helped athletes reach the podium and qualify for national level events like the American Open.

Liz Downs

CrossFit Coach
Elizabeth Downs is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer with certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP. She is a certified and registered Respiratory Therapist, specializing in Cardiovascular Health and Emergency Intervention. Elizabeth is a United States Army Veteran who received a Combat Action Badge and a Purple Heart after being wounded in Iraq. After her own rehabilitation, she has made it her mission to help and motivate others, especially those with circumstances that have previously held them back. She has worked closely with other wounded veterans and civilians and understands the ups and downs of reaching fitness goals whether you are recovering from injury, starting for the very first time, or simply trying to push yourself to the next level. She can offer one on one training and is an avid crossfitter. Having lost 30 pounds after having her two children, she is happy to counsel others on making healthy nutritional choices to change their lives.  

Alex Wilkens

CrossFit Coach
Coach Alex is CrossFit Level 1 Coach who found CrossFit shortly after his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 2014. He used this new-found passion for CrossFit to go to school for and graduate with a B.S in Exercise and Health Science at UMass Boston. As a graduate of EHS, Coach Alex uses research supported methods and techniques in improving athlete’s performance. He continues his goal in helping and educating others by pursuing graduate school as a Chiropractor. Coach Alex has enjoyed working with a variety of different skill level athletes and age groups for over the last 4 years and is looking forward to helping those new and old to fitness reach and exceed their fitness potential!

Ava Cardinale

Yoga Instructor

Ava has always been passionate about movement. Ava began dancing at the age of three and continued on until college. While working on her Bachelor’s in 2010, she found yoga. Four years later, after graduating college she decided to pursue her yoga teacher training at the Joschi Yoga Institute in NYC. In 2015 Ava moved to the Boston area to study Traditional Chinese Medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture. In 2018 Ava graduated with her Master’s in Acupuncture, and a much deeper sense of how the body, mind and spirit connect. Ava teaches a vinyasa style of yoga. All of Ava’s classes are open to all level, even those new to yoga. Ava loves working with athletes, weightlifters, and especially CrossFitters. Each class includes breath work, body mind connection, sun salutations, fun accessible flows, and end with a guided meditation.
